Toyota invited a group of Supra super-fans to an evening event with Tetsuya Tada, in which the chief engineer of the new A90 Supra gave owners of all four previous generations an exclusive introduction to the camouflaged prototype.
The top secret, invite-only event occurred during the long weekend of the 2018 Goodwood Festival of Speed, where the keenly anticipated new fifth-generation Supra made its world debut.
Blah, Blah, Blah
This got me thinking - should I actually get a Supra, built by BMW??? Should I sell my 2018 Subaru WRX, my trustee steed, good old reliable for something that is not really German or Japanese. Well, no - I did what sensible person would do, didn't think twice about it.
Then the world changed, COVID-19. As you do, you go about your normal day, do what you need to do and don't think twice about it. Go to work, come home, eat, sleep and sh$!.
However, one day a good friend called me up from a local Toyota dealership and asked me what I was doing. I said nothing thanks to COVID. He was the same. He was bored. He asked me to come in and take the A90 2020 Supra for a spin - to kill some time. As you do, you get up and come.
Arriving at the dealership, super skeptical, I took the Grey A90 GR Supra for a spin. Let me tell you, WOW!!! Simply WOW!!. I could feel all 250KW and 500NW of power coursing through the pedal and up my feet and into my veins. And this was not even sports mode! Slapped into sports and OMG the car went mental.
Like a little kid getting his favorite ice cream, I could not wipe the smile of my face. I needed it, I wanted and I had to get it. First thing I did was sell my trustee old steed, my pride and joy my beautiful WRC Blue 2018 WRX.
